In the lee of Lake Superior, the forest of Central Algoma support trees of a size and character dramatic to behold. Eastern White Cedar (Thuja occidentalis), the "tree of life", has a permanence that exceeds all other species. Cedar is the ultimate choice of the wood connoiseur.

At Achigan Cedar Shakes, every effort is made to sustain this incredible resource, through active management, careful practices, and ongoing salvage operations. We have been manufacturing Eastern White Cedar products since 1984. Our handsplit cedar shakes are a unique split and trimmed product suitable for roofs, sidewalls, decoration or crafts.

Three grades are sorted and bundled based on quality & clarity. Shakes are 1/2" thick nominal and 18 inches long. Widths may vary within the bundle. We also produce 6" & 8" bevel siding, boards & decking. All made from Eastern White Cedar.
